Why Chrome is better than Mozilla Firefox

Both browsers display power and stability however when it comes to convenience Chrome comes first. The tabs are easily managed with precision and absolute ease and you can even see the result in real time whereas in Firefox you have to hold the mouse for a long time just to arrange the tabs, dragging them requires concentration and you can only see an arrow pointing the location of your choice.

There is more I found in Chrome and I will keep posting.

Chrome 6 – The best browser I’ve used so far…

I’m looking for a browser that intelligently interacts with my browsing habits. I have tested Firefox 4 beta and IE 9 beta but so far they never surpass the neat and speedy browsing experience offered by Chrome 6. Chrome is not only fast in rendering web pages but it gives you what happens at every second whenever you want to know what is going on under the hood of your browser. Too much add-ons make me dizzy so I limited my need for add-ons by staying with just a few very useful add-ons like Adblock and Xmarks. Whenever I am doing extensive research I simply disable the add-ons to give way for information to freely flow in the browser preserving memory at the same time. Reading news is like a breeze in Chrome and I don’t feel the need for RSS readers. In Chrome 6, I can simply pin the critical websites I am working on and simply duplicate tabs whenever I want to use the back button of the current tab without leaving the current page. The interface is very functional and the bookmarks bar is elegantly positioned and can be hidden easily. Chrome 6 is definitely made to browse the internet with absolute peace of mind. It is definitely fast and stable. I highly recommend Chrome 6 for every speed freak out there or for people who wants elegance in their internet browsing experience.

IE 9 for a Mobile Broadband User

IE 9 is a huge leap for Microsoft fanatics. Users of IE 6 who finally jumped to IE 8 would definitely love the changes made in IE 9. IE 6 as we know it is very sluggish and poorly designed or simply it was the best design in the past but time is moving forward and Microsoft folks are not giving much attention in alternative browsing experience offered by other internet browser competitors like Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome among others.

It seems that IE 9 integrated its design with windows 7 making it very useful for Windows 7 users. Pinning websites is very useful if you don’t want to navigate to your favorites. Aside from pinning websites, IE 9 promises of hardware related web acceleration when it comes to graphics or intensive web applications and it does the job very well. IE 9 is a competitive browser but not to a mobile broadband user like me. I installed IE 9 from the moment it was available on Microsoft website. The download was small but the installation wasn’t that fast as promised – considering my internet connection type. When I started the browser it was fast but the thing I noticed was the loading process wasn’t showing most of the time giving me the assumption that it freezes every time I access multimedia websites. The rendering might be brutally fast on fast internet connections but on mobile broadband connection using a proxy, IE 9 is definitely a loser compared to Chrome and Firefox.

I like IE 9 because it is wrapped up with Windows 7 but considering the losing points I just mentioned above, I won’t waste time testing the beta for unresponsive and stressful browsing experience. I hope though that the final version would be of great use to some people like me.

The New Google Instant Search

I read a few days ago about the upcoming Google Instant Search from CNN Technology news and I am quite interested how it would turn out. Today when I opened my browser there’s a hyperlink introducing the Google Instant Search and lucky for me I need to search about something. Just a few keystrokes, I am given several options and the more keys I typed in, the search narrows down to what I really want and I can change my search keys I real time. What I am saying is that the new Google Instant Search is very effective because you can narrow down your searches in real time to find exactly what you are looking for.

The Chrome browser is on its stable 6.0 version and the experience is a breezy browsing experience. Internet Explorer is no match compared to the technology being developed by the IT people working in Google. I hope I can contribute more.

The future of Internet browsers

The internet as we know it is ever growing and there is a bazillion of information scattered all around the internet. However, not all websites are credible and even if they are visually entertaining, they’re not worth the time. Nonetheless, most websites are informative on their own purposes. A website that talks about different topics would contain millions of gigabytes of data. Narrowing it down would help a lot not just for the website owners but for the internet users. We are people of different preferences. We have different tastes and while many stick to one preference, others have a plenitude of preferences. The internet is an active library of information where changes happen in real time. However, this does need the interference of human beings to regulate the flow of information that are somehow critical to the daily lives of humankind. The internet to be understood as a machine is the negative way of explaining what internet really is; rather, to understand it as an extension of human consciousness is somehow closer to the reality. One day the human consciousness could be preserved in a subtle form of a living thing capable of retaining information, propagating wise decisions and interaction with any life form.

Why the need to compare the above statements to mere browsers? I believe that internet browsers would play a greater role in maximizing the potential of the internet to serve the best interest of humankind. Internet browsers act not only as tools to access information but as a ground for active interactions.

Google chrome proves to be amassing vast amounts of information and this alone entails that a bigger collective consciousness is capable of improving the lives of humankind.

Smallville, The Arrival

Smallville is said to be deviating from the original story of Superman. Smallville introduced characters that are somehow unknown in the original story but thanks to these new characters, Smallville has become much interesting than the original Superman. In the original Superman, there was no Chloe Sullivan, a very talented friend of Clark Kent that has the ability to hack computers and provide Clark Kent with intel against enemies. Clark Kent was even best friends with Lex Luthor, the arch enemy of Superman. Watching Smallville frustrates hardcore superman fans but those with open minds would rather appreciate what is present in Smallville than complain or protest about the changes. Smallville is by far the high school life of Superman and the man of steel is hidden in plain sight in the character of a high school student, Clark Kent. Smallville is a feature pack series with the excitement of a true kryptonian mix.

I will write in detail all the glory of this series from a fan’s point of view. I never watch series in full because I’m always inclined not to finished what I started because of time restraint. I always want to make good use of my time and being in front of the television for many hours is a big NO. But when I started watching Smallville, I couldn’t help myself. In the first season I thought it would be a bad series but then I got hooked and I would stay up all night just to watch the entire first season. I only bought one disc at that time instead of the complete five seasons in one package. Guess what, I regretted that I didn’t purchase the complete pack because I couldn’t find the individual 5th season in my place.

The first season is about the arrival of Clark Kent as a young boy in Smallville, it’s a fictional place though and the real place where Smallville was shot is in Cloverdale. Smallville made a lot of impact in Cloverdale including the transformation of the local high school that incorporated in its colors the fictional colors of Smallville High. Anyway, so much for that. The arrival of Clark Kent is marvelous in the sense that many future episodes in the later seasons go back to this season to highlight the conflict among Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, and Doomsday. The arrival of Clark Kent changed Smallville. When meteor freaks (people infected with kryptonite rocks from the meteor shower) start to plague Smallville, Clark Kent’s adventure finally begins. Clark Kent saves Lex Luthor and impresses the entire town particularly Lana Lang. I want to write more but it wouldn’t be fun if you want to watch the entire series so fire up your TV and begin watching the series. I promise your time won’t be wasted.

A Perspective of Google Chrome from a Mozilla Firefox former user

Google Chrome is by far the most awesome browser there is. It is not fully functional like Mozilla Firefox yet but it surely beats other browsers with its ability to browse faster and with lots of free space for browsing. You might require a neat browser interface without annoying pop-ups—chrome does this job excellently. Google chrome’s omnibar which is coined awesome bar in firefox works pretty well but it’s missing some options like changing the default search engine with just a mouse click. However, in order to do so, you have to right click in the omnibar and navigate to manage search engines. These are just a few good addictive stuff present in chrome including the option to change themes and add as many extensions as they like. If you are using firefox you must be annoyed by now with slow and freezing start-ups. In my part, I am still using firefox because IDM (Internet Download Manager) works with it seamlessly and also since google toolbar does not install or is built-in in google chrome as of now. Nonetheless, the good side about using firefox is its stability and almost all website display their contents perfectly in firefox not to mention that firefox keeps competing in the browser wars with its recent upcoming update that will make it almost as good looking and as fast as chrome—well, that’s what firefox people said. Chrome pioneers in new technology and there’s no doubt that chrome browser is not just a browser. It can act like an OS within a browser. If you are spending so much time in the web, you can agree with me on this one. Chrome does not eat a lot of memory and if one tab crashes, you will never lose the others because chrome isolates tab processes to protect other tabs. This is very useful if you have more than one very important tabs open like you’re doing banking on one account, and you’re uploading contents to your website on the other while playing an online radio on the other, and so forth. With firefox, if one tab crashes the others will be affected as well, but recently this was addressed—but still in my analysis, chrome does it better. For the developers, chrome may not be as functional yet as firefox but lately, chrome keeps up on this field. Chrome has a growing library of extensions and at a young age, this is a great leap for chrome already since firefox has been present in a long time. Some people say switching to chrome is only a waste of time. Microsoft people will back you up if you’re thinking the same way. People do their businesses with internet explorer in hand and Mozilla firefox. Google chrome for them is only an amusing stuff. I cannot agree with this one because chrome is a lot better against popular browsers like firefox and internet explorer. If you want you can test chrome and disprove me.

Non-free and free software applications

Lately I have been reading about free software and I found a good read at http://www.gnu.org/. I don’t have to explain again what free software applications are since GNU did the explaining greatly. Nevertheless, to my surprise not all Linux distributions are supported by the GNU. My favorites, Fedora and Ubuntu are excluded because of some expectations from the GNU that aren’t met. Sadly, the said distros are very popular, stable and powerful and used mostly by developers and Linux newbies. Why does it really matter to make all software applications free? How come Microsoft pisses a lot of serious developers? I may not provide answers to these questions in this blog entry right now but as an average computer user, having exposed in non-free and free software applications, all I can say is that the dichotomy between the non-free and free software applications have created serious groups amongst the developers and computer users in general. Nonetheless, not all individuals who support free software are using absolutely free software applications because of several factors involved. Let’s admit it that Microsoft does a lot of jobs easier and faster than Linux. Most state of the art technologies have been developed by Microsoft and supported by hundreds of commercial companies and developers in general. I think the best idea that captures this phenomenon is that Microsoft has been the habit of so many people. It is almost impossible to get away from Microsoft since they pioneered almost all the easy stuff in the cyber world. It is true however that the statement, “give a man a fish today and you have fed him for one day, teach him how to fish and you feed him his entire life,” is very significant amongst developers. Since the internet has been a self-supporting world on its own, the control of it should not be governed by one entity or else it would fall into the pitfalls of tyranny. I believe that the internet is an intelligent community and as such, it should also have laws to protect everyone using it. Going back to the use of free and non-free software, I think all that matters is that the job gets done. For those who are using free software applications, they have the advantage of improving their tools and mastering their craft the best way they could. On the other side, those who are using non-free software applications rely greatly on a few individuals but it doesn’t mean they couldn’t do anything because they can freely interact with the developers and point out bugs and offer possible improvements in the form of suggestions.

How Windows 7 differs from Linux

I have been using windows since the time I learned to send my first email. It was as easy as opening the internet explorer and navigating to yahoo website to access my email account. Since then I became accustomed to windows programs and applications that can run under windows. Working with documents using MS Office is easy because I have been using this popular software for a long time. Windows is no doubt the most popular software. I have heard about Macintosh and Linux but in the end I always end up using windows—be it in the company I worked with or in many internet cafes I have visited. All my friends are using windows and the applications I need are all running under windows. Considering these reasons, it makes moving on to another OS a very difficult process. Many people agree that Microsoft has monopolized the world with windows and productivity applications that exclusively run under it. I very much disagree because a lot of people and companies are running OSs other than windows. Those who are working with graphics are using Macintosh and many developers are using open source applications running under Linux. Many web servers and the biggest and most complicated websites are running under Linux. Windows is becoming unpopular among power users.

Windows is a very friendly OS and the friends working at Microsoft are always ready to answer questions and address bugs and release fixes as fast as they could. This is very much expected knowing windows users are paying a good sum of money for a reliable system. There is no such system as hack proof and if there’s one it’s being used by a certain number of people only—perhaps geniuses who don’t want to share to the general public. Computer programs are written by people and considering the qualities innate to mankind, perfection is always ninety nine percent achievable and the other one percent is always a question.

Linux on the other hand is also friendly but most of the times, an average user finds it scary to delve deeper and configure the system on their own. This makes Linux very popular to developers and power users. An average user learns through the years of course and becomes part of the power users in the long run.

Windows users will always find Linux programs difficult—that’s because they are setting foot in a different territory. However, those who have mastered windows will find Linux fun and even easier to use than windows. Nonetheless, pragmatic windows users will always stick to windows knowing that they will save a lot of time and money in the long run. Linux is free but when problems come, you have to pay even more.

Mozilla Firefox 4 vs Google Chrome 5

Earlier in my posts, I lauded Mozilla Firefox 3.6.6 and chose it to be my primary internet browser followed by Google Chrome. However, in the recent events and in all my internet activities I found Google Chrome more productive to use than Mozilla Firefox.

It comes mainly to speed issues and the way Google Chrome responds to the way I get things done. However, I cannot just ignore Mozilla Firefox because it harbors all the plug-ins I need and Google Chrome cannot meet that challenge just yet in my own viewpoint. Google Chrome is really fast and more elegant and functional to use than Mozilla Firefox. But some websites are built for Firefox only and browsing them through Google Chrome makes the browser limited in functionality or worst becomes unresponsive.

I just wish that Mozilla Firefox 4 can beat Google Chrome’s standards not just in looks but in functionality. Speed and functionality are the most important assets an internet browser should have and that’s according to one user’s preferences. Google’s data mining habits makes it the king of the internet because it knows what people want in their browsers. I think Google is just another hidden Microsoft name but as long as they serve well, then everything’s fine.

Mozilla Firefox 4 I hope you will have what it takes to beat Google Chrome. Make us proud again.
